Fantastic February Fishing

by | Feb 13, 2017

Fantastic February fishing is an exactly what it’s been. The weather has been unseasonably warm and the fish are loving it . I’m still mostly fishing speckle trout since the tides are low and the red fish haven’t been real cooperative. Fishing with artificial under a popping cork and sometimes tight line with swim baits . The specks have been aggressive with limits of them coming to the dock most days.

As long as I can find clean water and some water movement the fishing has been relatively easy . For the most part the water has been perfect. We have had a few days where a cold front blew in and muddied up the water. That makes things tough.

I’m starting to see a little more bait the last couple days. As long as the water temp stay up and the tide starts to move in we should start to see more red fish action . I’m ready to start fish for reds . Don’t get me wrong I love catching speckle trout and lots of them ,but I’m ready to get into some drag screaming action. The majority of my customers want red fish but foremost they want a good day catching fish.

If I make the suggestion that we should go fish one species rather than another . Its not because I don’t want to fish the latter but because I want you and your group to have the best day fishing that’s possible. It won’t be long I’ll be able fish specks and reds and do well with either one. Right now the specks are whats going to give us the most action for the day . I will target strictly reds now if that’s what you want but I won’t sugar coat how the fishing is going to be.

I want to thank everyone who has come out and fished with New Orleans Style Fishing Charters recently and I look forward to seeing y’all again someday . We have a full month of fishing lined up and look forward to meeting and fishing with every one . I’m running multiple boat so I still have plenty of openings for everyone….
