New Orleans Fishing in August !

by | Aug 4, 2017

New Orleans Fishing in August has been hot. Not heat hot but hot action ,so far the weather has been decent for fishing. Not to hot and not to rainy, with a light breeze ,most days the temps stay tolerable. Anyone who has ever fished here this time of year knows it can be brutally hot.

The heat doesn’t seem to effect the fish much as long as you find the proper water temps ,they will be cooperative. Most of the year I’ve been in the back water marsh fishing in less than 3′ of water . I’ve moved out into the larger bodies of water to find cooler water since the summer heat has set in to the shallows .

We’ve been catching red fish mostly with a few specks hitting the dock when we go fishing for them . The red fish have been between 16″-20″ for the most part with an occasional 24″-27″ stretching the lines out . The trout are way out towards the gulf waters. We’ve been catching them between 12″-18″ with a lot of under size fish caught between the keepers .  The red fish have been coming in by way of shrimp on the bottom or under a cork. The trout we’ve been able to tight line some and catch some under a cork with artificial .

I want to thank everyone for coming out fishing a Nawlins good time with us . Its been a good year with lots of repeat customers and lots of new clients . I look forward to fishing with everyone again someday !
