New Orleans Fishing March Madness

Is what we’ll call it. March is shaping up to be a busy month in the books for us here at New Orleans Style Fishing Charters. With me running multiple boats daily, I can accommodate everyone. February was a great month of fishing with beautiful weather and cooperative fish.  As we roll into March these conditions will continue and lots of memories will be made one fish at a time .

With the lack of presence of the speckle trout our main target has been the hard fighting red fish. As the bait moves inland with the tides , the red fish have been very active and plentiful for all to catch. This past week we were able to get into some skinny waters and find quite a few hungry red fish. Catching most of the them with market shrimp under a popping cork slow trolling the banks. This is always an effective method of catching the hard fighters. We also have been fishing with some soft plastics tight lined .

This week we had some repeat customers and some first timers . Its always a pleasure to catch up with returning customers as well as getting to know the first timers .  Id like to thank everyone for coming out and fishing with us this past week . I look forward to fishing with y’all again someday.

I’m Captain Jason Shilling, owner and fishing guide of New Orleans Style Fishing Charters. I fish the bayous of Lafitte, Louisiana for red fish and speckle trout.
