Happy Mardi Gras Fishing!

by | Feb 13, 2018

Happy Mardi Gras from New Orleans Style Fishing Charters .

Its been a week of awesome fishing here in Lafitte . I’ve had the pleasure of guiding some great customers. The red fish have still been our main target ,with limits of them hitting the dock daily. I haven’t had to search for the silver wonders (speckle trout) lately. The weather is warming up a bit this week and I’m sure the specks will start to make an appearance here soon.

I’m still fishing the bays surrounding the marsh areas . With the tides still low the marshes don’t have enough water in them to sustain the bait or red fish . These fish will hang out on the edges of the bays until the tide comes up, then they’ll go back into the back waters. I wont be far behind. I’ve fished mostly with shrimp under a popping cork this week but we have also caught a few limits of reds with artificial.

I want to thank everyone for coming out and fishing with me this week . Its been an action packed full week of guiding for me . New Orleans is always full of people during Mardi Gras season. With that lots of people come out to try their hand at some New Orleans Fishing for red fish. If your’re in town and are looking to get out of the city for a day of fast action >>>>>
