2023 Fishing is Off to a Great Start

2023 Fishing Catch

Wow! It’s already April! The first quarter of 2023 fishing is already gone. I guess that happens when you’re having fun.  It feels good to be back on the water, spring is here, and the fish are hungry. March has been a productive month, with lots of fish hitting the dock. January and February were productive when the weather allowed us to get out on the bayou.

Last year was a recovery year after hurricane Ida, the fishing was good, but the redfish numbers were down some. We spent a lot of days on the water chasing speckle trout and did well with them. Typically our primary target is redfish and specks, I can tell y’all from what I’ve seen so far this year the reds and specks both have a healthy population in our area. Since the weather has stabilized from the winter-to-spring transition, the fish have been receptive to just about anything we throw at them.

Right now, we are mostly fishing in the backwater marshes while the water temps are still cool and the grass isn’t too bad. Fishing the banks with a popping cork and market shrimp seems to be the ticket right now. I have thrown some plastic swim baits with success. Either way, we have been able to make a day and send customers home happy with their experience.

I would like to thank everyone who has trusted us as their fishing guide while in New Orleans these last couple years. It’s been our pleasure to meet and fish with y’all. For my repeat customers, y’all are the back bone of this business and I can’t express my gratitude enough for your continued business and friendship. I look forward to many more years with y’all.
