New Orleans fishing in May is always good . With the weather stabilizing from the transition of spring to summer . The temps warm up, the bait stats to move in and the fish get a little predictable in their patterns . The weather has been beautiful with the temps not exceeding 85 degrees and the humidity is still low . which makes for great fishing.
The red fish have been our main target species but we have been catching a few speckle trout. It just depends on what the customer wants to fish for. The weather plays a big role into where and what I fish for as well. I’ve been fishing for red in the back waters with spinner baits and spoons. Fishing shrimp under a cork when the water is stained has been effective also.
The speckle trout have been in the bigger lakes and on the oyster reefs. They haven’t been a one spot shop . We’ve had to fish around from point to point and reef to reef . Catching a few at each spot but putting together a box full by the days end.
So far this year has been a good year for business and fishing. With the unseasonable warm winter we have been able to keep a steady stride with bookings and staying on top the fish as well. With summer vacation coming soon for the kids I don’t see anything slowing down anytime soon .
I’m currently running 2-3 boats a day so that we can accommodate everyone . The captains that I use are hand picked professionals who will treat you and put you on fish as I would . As much as I’d like to be able to fish everyone who books I just cant. I can ensure you that you will have a great day on the water fishing with any captain that I trust to represent me .
